Are the Dallas Cowboys still in the market for a free agent? We look at the Cowboys remaining needs.

The draft is in the rear view mirror and the Dallas Cowboys rookie mini-camp is just days away. Positional camp bodies have been fleshed out with 14 undrafted free agents.

The safety, cornerback, and the wide receiver positions are loaded with new options. Camp battles for roster spots should be intense. That’s great news for the Cowboys.

Many feel that the running back spot should have been addressed in the draft. Is this really a need? For the upcoming season, Dallas does have three quality tailbacks.

And though they parted ways with a specialty weapon Lance Dunbar, they may have acquired a replacement for that role in wide receiver Ryan Switzer; true, the two do not play the same position, but for utility purposes, Switzer could fill Dunbar’s role in a different way.

As for the quarterback position, I believe that Dallas will start the season with only Kellen Moore as back-up to Dak Prescott. This move will clear up a roster spot for one of those many defensive backs or wide receivers.

The needs, if any, would seem to be at linebacker or offensive line. Of the two, I see the greater need on the O-line.

If Rico Gathers can make the jump from the practice squad to the game day lineup, tight end will not be a position of need.

Despite three remaining Pro Bowlers on the offensive line, the departures of Ronald Leary and Doug Free make this an area of concern. The Cowboys have some options, but only guard La’el Collins stands out.

If we take it down to the offensive tackle position as an area of need for the Cowboys, the two best remaining free agents are King Dunlap and Ryan Clady. Both are older veterans that would likely only see a deal from a team that wants a short term solution. It’s possible that the Cowboys may find themselves in that position.
