Now that it is all said and done, the Dallas Cowboys did well for themselves addressing top needs with quality talent and improving the depth of the roster.

The 2017 NFL Draft is finally over.  For the Dallas Cowboys and their fans, the mystery of who will compete for this team is complete.

Nine new drafted players and a few undrafted that will all try to earn roster spots over the summer.  Seven of the nine players will (hopefully) bolster this team’s defense as Dallas stuck with  to the plan of addressing the defense.

While you will likely see tons of grades given by pundits and experts alike, I think that process is pointless.  I have never understood the concept of grading guys who have yet to put on pads at this level.

Do you think anyone gave the New England Patriots an “A” for choosing Tom Brady in the sixth round in 2000?  How many people said that Pittsburgh just chose the guy who would turn out to be the best receiver in the league when they selected Antonio Brown in round six of the 2010 Draft?

How about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott?  Read this bottom line from his NFL draft profile:

"“Hard to find an NFL comp for Prescott because he’s built like Donovan McNabb, but lacks McNabb’s ability and polish.  The tape shows a player who must improve his mechanics, poise and quickness through his progressions if he is to become a full-time starter in the NFL.  There are absolutely draftable traits and upside, but he will need extended work to smooth out his flaws. Until then, a team would be wise to utilize him on short-yardage packages.”"

You just never know.

Instead of grades, let’s talk about the best and worst aspects of the 2017 NFL Draft for the Dallas Cowboys.  Without further ado, we’ll start with the best pick.
