The Dallas Cowboys will get many key contributors back from injury following their bye-week. For the first time all season they will be near full strength.

The Dallas Cowboys had their bye-week this week and had the luxury of remaining in first place in the NFC East regardless of what happened while they were off. They will return to the field this week taking on divisional foe the Philadelphia Eagles and be at near full-strength for the first time all season.

The Cowboys sit at 5-1 on the season and in first place in the NFC East after their bye week, and following a Minnesota Vikings loss they now are tied for the best record in the entire NFC. The Cowboys were able to achieve this while key players were missing much of the year. With these players returning from injury soon, the Cowboys should feel pretty confident in their ability to compete for the top spot in the NFC.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant will be back after missing the last three games with a small fracture in his leg. Getting back one of the leagues most dynamic receivers will only help this Cowboys offense even more, and open the running lanes more if that’s possible. Having Bryant all the field makes the other 10 players’ jobs easier and gives the offense the threat outside that teams have to account for every single play.

In addition to Bryant returning to health, corner-back Orlando Scandrick is due to return after suffering two hamstring injuries. Then, the most talked about injured player in perhaps in the entire NFL – quarterback Tony Romo – will be healthy enough to be suited up again for the Cowboys. Never mind the so-called quarterback controversy, the threat of Romo being able to play should worry the rest of the league and gives Dallas even more flexibility going down the stretch.

Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has piloted Dallas to the best record in the NFC and is in the running for offensive rookie of the year, all while his high-profile teammates have been out. It is yet to be determined on how long the Cowboys will ride the hot-hand of Prescott, but he is playing so well right now that he remains the starter. This is huge for the Cowboys as if he continues to play well enough to keep Romo on the sideline the team will most likely be winning football games.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys second round draft selection, linebacker Jaylon Smith, appears to be getting more healthy each week and it’s possible he could return to the field down the stretch. For a defense that has overachieved and played very well even though they are severely underhanded this is huge news. The more talent this side of the ball has out there, the more opportunistic they will become.

When the Cowboys host the Eagles this upcoming Sunday night, they will have many of their injured players back and have a shot to extend their winning-streak and division lead. With how good this team has been, Cowboys fans can only hope they will be even better as the reinforcements arrive. If they are, the league will be on full alert. The Cowboys are coming.
