The Dallas Cowboys are rising in the NFL thanks to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. Here are several thoughts into Week Four.

The Dallas Cowboys are battling their way to the top of the NFC East as this season finally begins to take shape. The main story has been the rise of rookie quarterback Dak Prescott as he continues to impress both the Cowboys fan base and the organization.

Not only has Prescott exceeded expectations, the rookie has inspired hope in the future of the franchise. As the Cowboys march towards Week Four there are several thoughts fans and the organization are faced with.

Will Dak Prescott continue to rise?

This is the big question, Prescott has grown with every NFL game and seemingly has no intentions of stopping. The competition has been fierce for this rookie as he has gotten a crash course in the history of NFC East rivalries in the first two weeks of the season. After a heartbreaking loss in Week One to the New York Giants, Prescott took more chances and forced himself into the end zone.

The defense played with the same sort of urgency towards the end of the game which led to the Cowboys eventual victory. Dak has shown he has everything it takes to continue to be productive as a starting quarterback but his emergence as a star is an unexpected surprise. The fourth round pick should have an interesting test this week against the San Francisco 49ers defense.

What will Zeke look like when he hits his mid-season stride?

There were worries of Cowboys first round pick Ezekiel Elliott being out of shape as the season began however the kid has handled 20 plus carries for most of the season. Now after his performance against the Chicago Bears, the Cowboys first round pick is a rising star in the NFL.

He should continue to find his form against a 49ers defense that has been less than consistent in stopping the run. Elliott is already the Cowboys bell cow back, and will only get more productive as his instincts sharpen as he gains more and more experience on the NFL level.

This defense has quietly done a fantastic job

The Cowboys defense has been surprisingly clutch. They have shown great run stopping ability throughout the past three games. They have also gotten to the quarterback several times this season which was a concern throughout the offseason.

Rookie defensive lineman, Maliek Collins is an emerging star on this defensive front and the unit continues to pressure opposing quarterbacks during key moments in football games. The defensive backs have also been taking the ball away at least once during each game, that is downright amazing considering the amount of hope Dallas fans had for this defense prior to the season.

It appears this unit has really come into it’s own when the offense has needed them the most.

Terrance Williams mistakes in a contract year are becoming to be a bit much

The game ending fail that caused Dallas to lose their Week One matchup was a bitter pill to swallow but these things happen. Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams latest gaffe came when he fumbled after completing a pass that would have moved the chains for the Cowboys.

Instead of running out of bounds (again) he cut back and tried to gain more yards however he ended up fumbling the ball after a Chicago defensive player punched it out of his arms. The Bears ended up with the ball and the Cowboys lost great field position.

Look, the Bears were not threatening to win that game at any point, the Cowboys were quick to the ball on defense, and the offense was humming so it did not seem like the game was in jeopardy. But imagine if Williams did that during the Cowboys Week Seven matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, would it be as forgivable?

Mistakes may happen but Williams needs to clean things up before he makes a mistake Dallas cannot forgive.
