The Dallas Cowboys wrapped up the 6th and 7th rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft by drafting three offensive players. The team took wide receiver Dwayne Harris of East Carolina in the sixth and picked up Georgia running back Shaun Chapas and Wisconsin center Bill Nagy in the final round. Overall, the Cowboys took three offensive linemen, two running backs, a linebacker and one defensive back. Dallas could have done more to address the secondary, but they are one of the rumored front-runners for free agent corner Nnamdi Asomugha’s services. With the 143rd overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys selected Buffalo cornerback Josh Thomas in the fifth round of the draft. Smith is a very talented player with the potential to develop into a solid starter in the NFL. It took the Cowboys long enough, but they finally added help along the defensive unit. The Cowboys selected a little-known offensive lineman out of Missouri State with their fourth round pick. Who is David Arkin? Here is a look at his draft profile done by ProFootballWeekly: Trent Dilfer on ESPN was very excited by the pick of Arkin. He said that with Arkin’s mean streak, the kid has every chance to be a NFL star.

The Dallas Cowboys have selected David Arkin with their fourth round pick. Arkin started all 44 games in his career at Missouri State. Here is what NFL.com has to say about Arkin: Arkin’s an experienced, durable offensive guard prospect with the intelligence, work-ethic and toughness to make it in the league as a reserve and possibly a starter down the line. In the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray. There was a lot of confusion regarding the selection and it left fans scratching their heads. The selection of Murray all but guarantees the expected departure of Marion Barber, but what does it mean for Jones and Choice? The Dallas Cowboys drafted outside linebacker Bruce Carter out of UNC with the 40th overall pick.  Carter was injured for much of the 2010 season when he tore his ACL in November.  Carter is an athletic freak who is able to run a 4.5 forty time while weighing in at 240 lbs. The Cowboys drafted an athletic linebacker in 2009, Jason Williams.  Williams was a non-factor in two years with the Cowboys and was cut in November 2010. Dez Bryant did not show up to Valley Ranch on Friday, despite telling owner Jerry Jones he would. Jerry Jones was asked about this before the draft on Friday and he confirmed that he did in fact not talk to Bryant. The Cowboys were hoping Bryant would make an appearance to discuss his off the field issues and to have his surgically repaired ankle looked at by team trainers. Some of the Cowboys top guys showed up Friday morning to the Cowboys training facility to start getting work in. Since the NFL Lockout was lifted players are allowed to start using team facilities. Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Miles Austin were just some of the players who arrived Friday morning to start working. Romo and Witten did dome conditioning on the field and Austin who was seen entering the facility at 7:30 am and left about two hours later.
