Cowboys 21, Panthers 7: A Few Things From Last Night

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect The Dallas Cowboys improved their impressive Monday Night Football record to 42-29 and gave owner Jerry Jones the first win in his $1.15 billion dollar stadium with a 21-7 win over the visiting Carolina Panthers While a win is a win, the Cowboys did leave something to be desired with that performance. Here are a few things, both good and bad, that I noticed last night. The Cowboys run the best draw in the NFL: We’ve got that play down. Linebackers have to respect Tony Romo throwing the ball and that opened up all kinds of space [...]

Dallas Cowboys Must Beat Carolina Panthers

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 35 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys have to beat the Carolina Panthers tonight and Tony Romo must have a good, solid game. But I am not going to make a prediction like sister blog Cat Crave did today. Not only was his prediction hollow, it was homer-ish. Marion Barber will not play.  Earlier this week, Barber said on his blog that he was “good to go” but the coaches decided to hold him out of the game. A loss would put the Cowboys 0-2 in their flashy new stadium. That can’t happen. The game is about to begin. DeMarcus Ware with no sacks? [...]

Jimmy Johnson Becomes Latest Ex-Cowboy to Weigh In on Tony Romo

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect Former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson is one of few former Cowboys to give current quarterback Tony Romo a vote of confidence after Sunday Night’s 33-31 loss to the New York Giants. Former Cowboy greats Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith have both publicly bashed the quarterback, questioning whether or not Romo has what it takes to break Dallas’ playoff drought. But Johnson had a few words of encouragement for Romo. “I watched the Giants game,” Jimmy said. “Like everyone else, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing there a couple of times with Tony. “But if I were [...]

Marion Barber: “I’m Good To Go”

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Marion Barber throws a bombshell on his new Web site and blog tonight, telling fans that he is “good to go” for Monday night’s prime-time match up against the 0-2 Carolina Panthers at Cowboys Stadium. “It’s always good to have guys that can step in and play well when needed. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are both really good backs. But my leg feels good and I’ll be good to go next week.” This is good news for the Dallas Cowboys. Barber is right: he does have very capabable backups. But there are only a few backs who energize a [...]

Tony Dorsett Has A Few Choice Words For Tony Romo

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

Dallas Cowboys great running back Tony Dorsett had a few choice words for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo this week on a FOX Sports Radio. Dorsett doesn’t understand how Romo has gained the fame, and respect, that he has in the NFL. “Well, for one thing, I don’t know why on God’s earth Tony Romo has been anointed a superstar in the National Football League.  Tony is very young in his career.  Not to say you can’t be young in your career and be a superstar because you’ve got one up there in Minnesota in Adrian Peterson. But the thing [...]

Marion Barber Hoping to Play Monday vs. Panthers

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect Contrary to earlier reports from KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, ESPN’s Matt Mosley is saying that Cowboys running back Marion Barber still hopes to play on Monday against the visiting Caroline Panthers. While the Cowboys would certainly miss the physical tailback, who ran for 124 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries against the Giants, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice have already proven to be more than capable backups. This early injury hearkens back to last season, when Barber ran at less than 100 percent for a majority of the year after never really recovering from a toe [...]

Marion Barber Out 1 or 2 Weeks With Quad Injury

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Marion Barber’s quad injury will keep him out of at least one game and possibly two games. Barber suffered the injury on a 35-yard run in Sunday’s 33-31 loss to the New York Giants. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will share the carries Monday night against the 0-2 Carolina Panthers.

Why Take The Blame, Tony Romo?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

Why are you taking the blame for the Dallas Cowboys 33-31 loss to the New York Giants, Tony Romo? Do you think this shows your newfound leadership skills? Or do you think it impresses the fans because they’ll believe you’re the only guy in the locker room who has the kahunas to tell a room of press people that “It’s my fault.” Here’s a d-bag who commends Romo for taking the blame. He’s obviously not a Cowboys fan or he wouldn’t be commending Romo for saying the loss was his fault because the fans have seen the act before. They [...]

Orlando Scandrick Singlehandedly Settles Second Cornerback Battle

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect A lot of people are pointing fingers at Tony Romo for last night’s 33-31 loss against the New York Giants. True, the quarterback was bad. But we have to assess one of our corners with some of the blame to. Orlando Scandrick was really bad last night. He was bad in all aspects of the game: he missed open-field tackles on screen passes, got beat deep and he slipped on an Eli Manning touchdown pass to Steve Smith. With this bad performance, Cowboys coach Wade Phillips could have to re-evaluate his policy of rotating Scandrick and Mike [...]
