Power Rankings Week 5
By James Masse aka Ironman
A bomb went off in the NFL this weekend, the Power Rankings took the bulk of the explosion.
POWER RANKINGS AFTER WEEK 5
1. Giants
The Giants proved that they didn’t get lucky in the Super Bowl last year. This is the best team in the NFL… RIGHT NOW.
2. Titans
The Titans 25th ranked offense will be just fine, because they’re so dominant on defense.
3. Redskins
I hate to say it, but the Redskins are a good football team. They were a mess when they lost to the Giants in week 1, but they have beaten all honorable opponents since.
4. Cowboys
They’re still a top tier team with loads of talent, but talent doesn’t always win games. The Cowboys have the potential to be unstoppable, but they lack that killer instinct. If Romo doesn’t step up, this team could slip fast.
5. Steelers
That looked more like the Steelers we all know. They out muscled one of the most physical teams in the league.
6. Panthers
The Panthers are looking better and better. They man-handled a team that shut down the blazing Denver offense.
7. Broncos
Denver had a hiccup last week against the Chiefs, but they are still so explosive. They even showed a little bit of defense against the Buccaneers.
8. Cardinals
If the Cardinals were more consistent, they have the talent to be elite.
9. Colts
Peyton Manning pulled a… Well, he pulled a Peyton Manning. 21 points in the 4th quarter is a great statement. “Manning could be back”.
10. Bills
They took a beating on Sunday, but they were without they’re starting Quarterback. The Bills have a bye week before they play the hot and cold Chargers. That game will tell us a lot about both teams.
11. Bears
The Bears have a different swagger after knocking off the big bad Eagles. This team made the right choice at Quarterback.
12. Patriots
Is it just me or did that bomb to Randy Moss give you guys flash backs from last year?
13. Jets
The jets will get a tough, but winless Bengals team next week. If they play like they played against Arizona, they could be very dangerous.
14. Ravens
They were one bad call away from beating the Titans, this team is good.
15. Jaguars
They went punch for punch with the Steelers, it could have went either way.
16. Eagles
No Brian Westbrook = No good.
17. Chargers
Are the Chargers Bipolar? They go from GREAT to TERRIBLE in 7 days.
18. Buccaneers
The Buccaneers lost a tough battle on Sunday, but they’re still impressive for a team with Quarterback issues.
19. 49ers
The 49ers and Cardinals will fight for the division all year. I don’t know who my money is on just yet.
20. Vikings
The Vikings are a disappointment this year. They didn’t beat the Saints, the Saints 75 year old kicker beat the Saints.
21. Saints
This team has lost 2 games from missed kicks. They’re missing 2 of their best players and they’re still clicking. Keep your eye on the Saints.
22. Falcons
An unstoppable running game + a confident quarterback = success. Lets see if they can continue to play like this.
23. Dolphins
The Tuna is already paying big dividends.
24. Packers
The Cowboys did something to the Packers when they beat them in Green Bay. I know they have some injuries, but they look like a different unit.
25. Raiders
Al Davis is the devils grandfather. He creeps me out.
26. Chiefs
The Chiefs got their fans pumped up last week. Not so much anymore.
27. Browns
I cant believe I have to watch this team on primetime… 5 times! Way to go NFL!
28. Bengals
This team scared the Giants and Cowboys, but they just can’t get a win.
29. Texans
21 points in the 4th quarter? Wow.
30. Seahawks
This is the team that dominated the NFC West forever. They could be as bad as the Rams.
31. Rams
Congratulations! The Lions out sucked you this week! Wait, didn’t you have a bye?
32. Lions
They could still win 10 games.

Thank you for giving us props. It’s nice to see some level headed commentary over here for a change.
October 7th, 2008 at 12:23 pmI noticed the same thing. Thelandryhat must have hired a new junior blogger.
October 7th, 2008 at 12:37 pmWow Dan i dont agree wt you at all..Steleers 5th? thats not right and the skins arent better then the boys..so they beat the eagles..i believe that w/o a healthy westbrook they arent the same..i believe that they are a top 10 team but not in front of the boys…i know you are upset becuase we are not killing teams..but you also realize that its the beginnin of the season and the skins are ok but not great we barely beat the winning-less bengals but they played their hearts out and they did good we do need to step up our game but you are acting as this season is over..t.o needs to shut up and we need to go back to the basics and start killing teams like we did last year
October 7th, 2008 at 5:45 pmIts not LandryHat. Its Ironman. His rankings are more of a RIGHT NOW deal, as I disagreed with him having the Cowboys making the playoffs through a wild card. He explained that its how they sit in the CURRENT rankings. Also, as of THIS week, I think the top 4 are right. I would actually put the Redskins at #2 and the Titans at 3, but the Cowboys have not been as impressive as those three teams. Do I think they’ll pick it up and win the division? I don’t THINK it. I KNOW they will. But, Ironman’s rankings are based on RIGHT NOW…
October 7th, 2008 at 7:12 pmThank you for explaining Truth!
Everything you say about the Rankings is true, this is a NOW picture. I also KNOW that the Boys will win the division, they just slowed the boosters down the last couple of games.
But hey, i would rather play better in December!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:13 pmBy the way, the Heading of this article should be…
A bomb went off in the NFL this weekend, the Power Rankings took the bulk of the explosion. AGAIN!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:16 pmI still don’t get why the Bucs aren’t starting Garcia. Are they hoping that their scrubs can put them in a decent position halfway through the season and Garcia will take them from there?
October 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pmIf you guys didn’t notice, Iron Man and I were brought on by Big Dan like 2 or 3 weeks ago. He’s doing an excellent job and I’m not doing too shabby either.
ha ha, don’t be so modest MBIII your doing great!
ps. Gruden will just do what ever he wants, he may bring back Plummer and start him next week …
October 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pmBring back Jake the Snake!
October 8th, 2008 at 12:07 amGreen Bay fans can officially start calling for Ted Thompson’s head now, this past week might’ve been the best week of the season for Rams fans and the Redskins can officially call themselves serious contenders. I knew Zorn was going to be a good coach, but I didn’t think it’d happen for another year or two.
