Cowboys reportedly meet with Frank Gore Jr. at East-West Shrine Bowl
How about a little break from the Dan Quinn mayhem?
It's widely expected that the Cowboys will draft a running back in April. The ever-reliable Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News hinted as such in a recent article. Some highly-touted prospects to know include Texas' Jonathon Brooks, Michigan's Blake Corum, Oregon's Bucky Irving and Florida State's Trey Benson.
In terms of possible late-round targets for the Cowboys, Frank Gore Jr. is a name to watch. The son of the NFL's third all-time leading rusher and future Hall of Famer, Gore Jr. was named Offensive MVP of Thursday's Shrine Bowl after rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown on just six carries. He set the tone for the game with a 49-yard touchdown run on the West's opening drive.
According to Joseph Hoyt of Lone Star Drive, the Cowboys met with Gore during Shrine Bowl practices. Gore also plans to attend the NFL Combine, so Dallas will be able to get a full evaluation of the young RB before the draft.
