The Dallas Cowboys are always a big draw for the NFL, but their matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football in Week 5 of the 2023 season is undoubtedly one of the best matchups of the year so far. Were it not for a bump in the road against the Arizona Cardinals, this would be a matchup of two undefeated teams that have dominated the majority of the season. Not that the Cowboys and 49ers have faced few true challenges, but they have proven how outstanding their rosters truly are up to this point.

When you look at what the 49ers have done this season, it's hard to see a clear path to victory for the Cowboys but it's not like Dallas has gotten lucky all year. They definitely have a chance to go in and match up against a team that historically has been a rivalry. The Cowboys are 14-15-1 all-time against the 49ers, so can they even the score in Week 5?

Let's take a look at three reasons why they will win and a pair of reasons why they will lose in San Francisco this week.

Dallas Cowboys will win this game if...they do to Brock Purdy what they did to Mac Jones

Can the Dallas Cowboys come out and do to Brock Purdy what they did to Mac Jones last week against the Patriots? Mac Jones was pulled from the game after throwing a pair of interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and losing a fumble that was returned for a TD by Leighton Vander Esch.

We know that Dallas defense can create turnovers. It's one of the things they've done best under Dan Quinn. But getting that kind of heat on Brock Purdy and making his life a living you-know-what will be absolutely critical to getting a win in this game.

If the Cowboys can fluster Brock Purdy, I think they stand a decent chance of pulling off a big road win against the NFL's most dominant team so far this season.
