3. NY Giants trading for Brian Burns

While the Giants losing Barkley hurts their offense, their defense received a big boost this offseason. The team traded a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers to get Brian Burns. For a player of Burns' caliber that could be considered one of the biggest steals of the offseason.

Burns was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and 2022. His 2022 season marked the best of his career with 12.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hits. After a rough 2023 season Burns wanted out of Carolina and he got his wish. Now the Giants have one of the better pass rushers at the linebacker spot in the NFL.

Micah Parsons might be the best at rushing the passer in the division but the Giants are fighting fire with fire by bring in Burns. New York has promising young players on defense like Kayvon Thibodeaux and Deonte Banks but they needed some firepower and that is what Burns provides.

While the Giants might still be a year or two away from competing for the division title again, they have improved this offseason and Burns is their prize. With the changes coming to the Cowboys' offensive line and questions at running back, both games against the Giants might be tougher competition in the NFC East. If New York can generate a pass rush now, Prescott will have a tougher time picking their defense apart like he did last year.
