How about replacing Dalton Schultz with another Dalton? The Cowboys’ biggest need this offseason is arguably tight end. After letting Schultz walk in free agency and inking a deal with the Houston Texans, Dallas has yet to sign a tight end in free agency. This all but indicates they will be drafting one possibly in the first round.

Kiper projects Dallas will take Michael Mayer from Notre Dame at 26th. While this makes sense, why not get a prospect who could be even better? At the head of the tight end class is Utah’s Dalton Kincaid. Experts have Kincaid ranked as the best tight end in the draft and one of the top prospects. He hauled in eight touchdowns and helped lead the Utes to a Pac-12 championship and appearance in the Rose Bowl.

His draft profile on NFL.com describes him as a great pass-catcher and route runner. Based on the security blanket Schultz was for Dak Prescott, Kincaid sounds like a player who would fit right in to this Cowboys’ offense. Outside of CeeDee Lamb, Schultz came up big on key downs when Prescott needed help. Dallas needs to find a tight end in this draft that can pick up right where Schultz left off.

According to Kiper, Kincaid is projected to go to the Packers at pick 15. For Dallas to move up and get him, they would likely need to offer more than if they wanted to move up for Robinson. To ensure they could land Kincaid, the Cowboys’ best bet would be to get into the top 15 range. That is a tall order considering moving up to take a tight end.

Kincaid would be worth it. With Lamb already proving himself worthy of being a number one receiver, Michael Gallup getting healthier and trading for Brandin Cooks, this receiving corps is a blue chip tight end away from being able to go against most secondaries in the league. Adding Kincaid would be the final weapon for an offense on the verge of being dynamic.
