1. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are not running it back in 2023. Following Super Bowl LVII, many looked at the Eagles salary cap situation and realized some significant pieces would be gone. So far that has proved to be right. Philadelphia lost several key starters within the first few days of free agency.

Their biggest lose was arguably Javon Hargrave. He signed a four-year, $84 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Losing Hargrave is huge for an Eagles defense that was one of the best units in the league. The team also lost corner C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who they traded for before the season from the Saints. Gardner-Johnson signed with the Detroit Lions. Linebacker T.J. Edwards, meanwhile,  joined in on the spending frenzy in Chicago, signing with the Bears on a three-year deal.

The loses mounted on offense as well. Running back Myles Sanders left for the Carolina Panthers, which is a huge blow to a run game that racked up over 2500 yards. Guard Isaac Seumalo also departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving a hole to fill on the offensive line.

By letting these players walk, the team was still able to pay Fletcher Cox, James Bradberry and Jason Kelce, among others. While retaining all three of those players makes sense, losing guys that were part of a Super Bowl run will not be easy to shake.

Not to mention offensive coordinator Shane Steichen was hired as the Colts new head coach, and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon took the same role with the Cardinals. Those losses cannot be understated.

There is still plenty of offseason to go, but it is hard to imagine the Eagles spending a boatload of money at this point.

The Cowboys went 1-1 against the Eagles last season. However, in both games one of the team’s starting quarterbacks was not healthy. The Super Bowl hangover could be in full effect for the Eagles in 2023, giving Dallas an excellent opportunity to take this division back.
