2. Cowboys trade up in second round of 2023 NFL Draft

The Cowboys are clearly all-in on 2023 in what could be Mike McCarthy’s final season as head coach if they come up short in the playoffs again. Why take your foot off the gas after securing deals for Cooks and Gilmore?

Dallas is a team that likes to let the draft all to them. They trust their big board and are typically content waiting for their turn.

Why not change it up this year? While waiting until pick No. 26 is perfectly fine, we’d love to see Jerry Jones trade up in the second round.

Plenty of studs should be available at No. 58 overall, but if there’s a potential draft crush sitting 5-8 picks away and they hear rumblings he could be gone by No. 58 the Cowboys should absolutely trade up to get their guy, whether it be Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Kansas State corner Julien Brents, North Dakota State OL Cody Mauch, or UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet, among others.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Dallas stood pat at No 58, but trading up to add another game-changer on offense or defense would send another message to the locker room that they mean business next season.
