There are a lot of different options the Cowboys can go at running back next season to back up Pollard.

Elliott can take a pay cut and stay with the Cowboys for another season. Dallas can cut Elliott and add a running back in the middle rounds of the draft to back up Pollard. They can cut Elliott, not address their running back room in the draft and sign a veteran running back free agent to back up the Pro Bowler.

With the draft class deep at the running back position, it’s almost likely that Dallas snags a running back in the middle rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s also just as likely that the team and Elliott agree to a pay cut and he stays with the team.

It’s probably unlikely that they add a veteran running back to the mix, but if they decided to, Wilson wouldn’t be a bad option for the Cowboys in 2023.

The Cowboys know that Pollard needs to get his touches next season. Just look at what happened when he got hurt in the Divisional Round game against the 49ers, Dallas couldn’t move the ball at all. He’s going to be the main guy at running back next season.

Adding a player like Wilson wouldn’t hurt either though. Last season, he had over 1,000 scrimmage yards combined with the Dolphins and 49ers and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. The 27-year-old running back does a great job of finding a hole and bursting through it for large gains.

Wilson has expressed his interest to return to Miami, where Mike McDaniel and the running back go back to their years in San Francisco.

But if that falls through and the Cowboys want to add a veteran running back to replace Elliott, Wilson isn’t a bad option for cheap. Spotrac lists his market value at a measly $2.9 million.
