1. Nahshon Wright, CB

Wright has reaped the benefits of both injuries and lackluster play from fellow second-year cornerback Kelvin Joseph. To say the signs have been encouraging would be an understatement, as Wright has (somewhat) silenced the alarm bells of Cowboys fans who are panicked about the team’s cornerback conundrum.

With Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis out for the year, Dallas has seen rookie DaRon Bland (an extreme example) and Wright rise to the occasion.

In Week 16 vs Philly, Wright allowed five catches on seven targets for just 35 yards. He allowed just four yards after the catch and added two pass breakups, eight total tackles, and a tackle for loss (the first of his career). He also broke up an end zone pass intended for DeVonta Smith on the final drive of the game.

Last Thursday in Tennessee was a different story for Wright, who was victimized in coverage to the tune of allowing seven catches for 105 yards, and 28 yards after the catch; a chunk of which came on his poor tackle attempt on Treylon Burks that allowed the Titans to kick a field goal before halftime.

It’s been a mixed bag for Wright, but he’s still trending up. With another strong outing against Washington, and potentially in the playoffs, the 2021 third-round pick could solidify himself as a mainstay in Dallas’ cornerback rotation.
