3. Slowing the Mobile Quarterback

Another way the Cowboys are going to try and limit Lawrence and his scrambling ability will be to place a spy defender on him.

The Cowboys have deployed this tactic many times against mobile quarterbacks, and have had success when doing it. It will also help keep a defender in the middle of the field to help defend crossing routes, as well as the running plays the Jaguars will use to negate the Cowboys’ pass rush.

Lawrence is dealing with a toe injury, but was able to play last week and play well. The Cowboys aren’t going to take any chances and let another mobile quarterback help keep the opposing offense on the field. If the Cowboys can get some hits on Lawrence and make him start thinking twice about tucking the football and running, then that takes one more weapon away from the Jaguars’ offense.

Game Prediction: Trevor Lawrence won’t run for more than 25 yards in this game.
