Full first-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys add superstar RB weapon

With the Lions’ second first-round pick, this being from the Los Angeles Rams, Joey Porter Jr. gets the call. The Lions need help on defense, especially in the secondary. While Jeff Okudah looks like he’s improving, they need another piece in the cornerback room. Porter is having a phenomenal year at Penn State, having allowed only 123 yards on 269 coverage snaps with nine pass breakups.

Now that the Texans have their quarterback of the future in Bryce Young, they now land Quentin Johnston to give him his new favorite target. Johnston, standing at 6-foot-4, is a huge target who primarily plays on the outside. He has a tendency of disappearing at times, but when he gets going, he’s nearly impossible to stop. Perhaps being paired with a playmaker like Young could benefit him due to his downfield ability.

Being perhaps the hottest name in college football right now has its perks. It gets you in the first round of NFL mock drafts. Tennessee signal-caller Hendon Hooker has looked like the best quarterback in the NCAA this season, and he deserves first-round consideration. While he is an older prospect at 24, he has taken a big step in his decision-making and ability to make big-time throws.

The Atlanta Falcons are somehow not in the top 10 of this mock draft, but it’s not really because of their defense. They still need help along the defensive line and off the edge, and Nolan Smith could be a huge help. Smith could be an in-state product who locks down the edge as a run defender and provide a good amount of pressure as a pass rusher. While his injury ended his season, I don’t expect him to fall too far.
