Tight Ends

Another group that has suffered due to injuries is the tight ends. Dalton Schultz missed a couple of games which opened the door for Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot to prove their worth.

Schultz currently is third on the team in targets (29), receptions (20), and receiving yards (203). Hendershot has been a solid weapon in the passing game as well, racking up 85 receiving yards on nine catches and a touchdown. Ferguson has been solid as both a receiver (nine catches, 68 yards, two touchdowns) and a run blocker.

The tight end group is so very fascinating. They have a lot of guys who can contribute in different ways, but also the same ways. Schultz is facing a contract year, playing on the tag, with two young guns looking to make the most of their opportunities.

This is one of the most fun tight end units I’ve seen from the Cowboys. They make sure they’re involved in the passing game and have a lot of talent after the catch. It will be interesting to see how the front office handles Schultz’s contract situation following the year, however, the team should be okay regardless.
