What We’ve Seen and Possible Gameplan Against Dallas

The heart and soul of this Washington Commanders football team are on the defensive side of the ball and his name is Jonathan Allen. He, along with this defensive front, has been the leader on this team, and as he goes so does the rest of this football team. That has become a huge problem for Washington given their current injury list.

Allen is also dealing with a groin injury and their star defensive end Chase Young is still working his way back from the knee injury he sustained last season. All those injuries were on full display as the Eagles were able to amass 340 yards through the air last week showing that this Commanders’ pass rush is severely crippled without Young on the field.

Luckily for Washington, the run defense is still intact as they held the Eagles to 72 yards on the ground. They are going to need it in order to slow a Cowboys offense that just ran for 176 yards against a tough Giants defensive front.

If Washington isn’t able to slow the Cowboys’ running game, then that will allow Cooper Rush to pick apart their secondary. Plus, with the possible return of receiver Michael Gallup and tight end Dalton Schultz, you can bet they are going to sell out to stop the run.

The Commanders will also likely dial up more blitzes off the edge to try and rattle Rush and throw off his timing. The defense will be how the Commanders beat the Cowboys. They just have to hope everyone will be healthy enough to finish the game next week in order to give their offense more chances to put points on the board.
