2. The future emerges at the tight end position

After the injury to Dalton Schultz late in last week’s game against the Bengals, Dallas is going to be relying on a couple of rookies to become Rush’s safety net.

Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot both shined in the preseason for Dallas and now have the opportunity to show their worth against a Giants team that’s had issues covering tight ends early this season. Of the two, the player with the most potential upside is Hendershot whose speed allows him to attack the seam and get upfield on defenders quickly. Dallas is going to need that against this stingy Giants’ third-down defense.

With New York focusing on slowing down the Dallas running game and receivers CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown, Hendershot will have ample chances to get up the field and make plays.

But let’s not forget that Ferguson was a nice weapon in the preseason and also has a rapport with Rush and will be able to attack the middle of the field much like Schultz has been able to. Both, I predict, are going to shine for the Cowboys and show that this team has a bright future at the position whether they are able to bring Schultz back next season or not.

Game Prediction: Cowboys tight ends Ferguson and Hendershot will combine to lead the team in receptions with Hendershot getting a touchdown.
