The Dallas Cowboys had a rough ending to the 2021 season and there’s a lot of doubt surrounding this team. However, there is a reason for optimism.

There were quite a few things that this team didn’t have figured out before the preseason, and I believe we can now start to feel better about them. Here are some reasons to have a little faith in the 2022 team with the season just a few weeks away.

5. The Running Game

Last season, this Cowboys running game came out on fire and ran all over any team that tried to stop them. But something changed halfway through the season. It’s likely the injuries that both Ezekiel Elliott (knee) and Tony Pollard (plantar fasciitis) suffered.

Regardless, the running game fell apart pretty fast and Kellen Moore didn’t have an answer to fix it. The fact that this first preseason game was focused on establishing their running early and continuing to go to it is a promising step.

Each backup running back was given a chance to shine in the first preseason game, and behind this rebuilt offensive line, they showed an ability to make pla45ys on the ground. This bodes well for Elliott and Pollard who are obviously more talented and experienced.

It also shows that the Cowboys have a tough decision on their hands when it comes down to who will be their third running back on this roster. Either way, this Cowboys running game is going in the right direction once again.
