2. Superior Linebackers

Even with some question marks in the air about Leighton Vander Esch (who did play significantly better than he did in 2020) and Jabril Cox (returning from injury), Micah Parsons alone makes the Cowboys linebacker corps superior to that of the Commanders.

The Commanders’ best answer at this time is Cole Holcomb. The three-year veteran has only 4.5 sacks to his name and has yet to have a year where he starts every game of the season. His 2021 was his best campaign yet in terms of tackle numbers, but it’s tough to have him as the leader of a very young linebacker group.

Next up is Jamin Davis who is probably one of the biggest question marks for Washington. After getting drafted in the first round by Washington last year, Davis had an incredibly underwhelming season where he struggled to find a consistent role. He called his rookie season “a humbling experience.” Yikes.

Davis started in only eight games and amassed just one sack and 76 combined tackles.

David Mayo is the third starting linebacker listed on Washington’s depth chart. In his seventh year in the league, the 28-year-old had zero sacks and 28 tackles in four starts.

Even with concerns about the Cowboys’ linebacker depth, what they have right now is already better than what Washington offers.
