3 realistic goals for Cowboys QB Dak Prescott this season
1. Throwing 40 touchdown passes & rushing for four
In 16 games last season Prescott broke the Cowboys’ single-season passing touchdown record with 37. But, the calf injury that he suffered mid-season not only affected his passing ability but also hampered his rushing ability.
The QB can take his game to another level if he can return to the dual-threat form we saw the first three years of his career. In those first three seasons, QB1 had six rushing touchdowns each year. But in his last three seasons, he only combined for seven rushing touchdowns. It would not be crazy to see a fully healthy No. 4 rush for four touchdowns this upcoming season.
When asked about Prescott running more in 2022, head coach Mike McCarthy said, “I hope so.” Despite being exposed to more hits when running the ball, his legs will help keep defenses honest. This is good news for the Cowboys and hopefully, it will come to fruition.
Playing a full 17-game schedule should help Prescott achieve the 40 touchdown passes but the use of his legs will be the difference-maker for him.
