2. Ezekiel Elliott Has A Pro Bowl Year

The reality is that as of late Ezekiel Elliott has not played like a running back worthy of the six-year $90 million contract he signed in 2019. He hasn’t made a Pro Bowl since 2019 and looked visibly slower than he was in his first three years as a pro. Of course, he was playing through injury in 2021, but he still looked like a shadow of himself.

If Elliott wants to prove to the Cowboys that he is worthy of remaining the RB1, he needs to shine this year. His coaches and teammates are continually telling people how he is the healthiest he’s ever been (if we had a dollar for every time we heard that) and that fans should prepare for the running back to have an excellent season. Here is a quote from Mike McCarthy per Mark Lane of WFAA:

"“I think the biggest thing with Zeke is he’s completely healthy now and he’s had a tremendous offseason. The weight that he has been pushing in the weight room, just the numbers that he’s been cranking out have been very, very impressive. I can’t tell you it’s been the best of his career, but he’s in top shape. At the end of the day, he’s an extremely instinctive, tough, smart football player, great teammate. So, I think he’s definitely set himself up for that.”"

But, is it all talk? Or can Elliott really live up to his paycheck?

With Tony Pollard on his tail and no guaranteed money left on his contract after the 2022 season, Elliott needs to have a career year. Doing so will only help himself and his teammates.
