Pick Analysis. Round 2, Pick 17. 8. player. 123. Scouting Report. DB. MelRenfro

No. 8 is one of the best defensive backs in Cowboy history, Mel Renfro. Renfro was the 17th overall pick in the 1964 NFL Draft.

The Hall of Fame cornerback came in and immediately played like one of the best in the league, logging seven interceptions as a rookie. Renfro followed his outstanding rookie season with 10 straight Pro Bowl appearances and four AP second-team selections.

The former second-round pick played all 14 of his seasons in Dallas and finished with 52 interceptions, including three for touchdowns. Renfro was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996, 19 years after he retired.

TE. JasonWitten. 123. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. Round 3, Pick 69. 7

Jason Witten had one of the greatest tight end careers of all time. Witten was selected in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft and finished with under 400 yards as a rookie. However, his workload grew rapidly thereafter.

He then finished his sophomore season with just under 1,000 yards, six touchdowns, and a Pro Bowl invite. This became a common occurrence for Witten many years down the road. The future Hall of Famer finished his career with over 13,000 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns.

Witt spent 15 years in Dallas before retiring for the 2018 season. He then came out of retirement before the 2019 season and signed a deal with the Cowboys. After the 2019 season, he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and finished his career there. The 11-time Pro Bowler has a special spot in many Cowboys fans’ hearts, including mine.
