Summary

  • Round 1, Pick 24: LB Devin Lloyd
  • Round 2, Pick 56: DL DeMarvin Leal
  • Round 3, Pick 77 (via MIN): DE Sam Williams
  • Round 4, Pick 129: CB Cam Taylor-Britt
  • Round 5, Pick 155: DL Eyioma Uwazurike
  • Round 5, Pick 167: S Verone McKinley III
  • Round 5, Pick 176: CB Jack Jones
  • Round 6, Pick 193: S Markquese Bell

To summarize our defense-only draft, we came away with three possible immediate starters. Devin Lloyd could be the starter along with Leighton Vander Esch and Parsons to solidify the linebacker group. DeMarvin Leal could start on the interior or exterior where both spots are in question. Sam Williams could also fight for a starting spot on the outside or even in a 3-4 linebacker scenario.

Rounds four and five provided a few developmental secondary players in Cam Taylor-Britt, Verone McKinley III, and Jack Jones. Also in round five was defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike who could make an impact on run-heavy downs.

Lastly, round six provided another developmental safety in Markquese Bell who can learn behind Jayron Kearse. There is a ton of talent in this draft in every single round and I feel very confident that Will McClay, the Joneses, and Dan Quinn can find more help for that defense. Of course, when the 2022 NFL Draft arrives, the Cowboys will mix up offense and defense, but it’s nice to do these hypothetical mocks to see what is out there.
