Dallas Cowboys offense only 7-round 2022 NFL mock draft
Round 5, Pick 155: RB Hassan Haskins
The Cowboys have three picks in the fifth round in this simulation due to one being traded to the Colts in the trade up for Pickens. The first pick in the fifth for the Cowboys is running back Hassan Haskins. Dallas had a lot of issues in the run game last year, but Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard will both remain on the roster.
Haskins enjoyed a very strong junior season at Michigan, finishing with 1,327 yards and 20 touchdowns on 4.9 yards per carry. He is a strong runner who will fight for yards while protecting the ball well.
If the Cowboys opt to keep Pollard in the RB2 role that he’s been playing, Haskins could fill in on early downs if Elliott were to miss time. Having a back that can fight for those yards on early downs is key to keeping an offense going and not having to rely on huge plays each time.
Other notable prospects available: T Kellen Diesch, C Luke Fortner, RB Sincere McCormick
Round 5, Pick 176: TE Jalen Wydermyer
Even though the team franchise-tagged current starting tight end Dalton Schultz, the Cowboys could still use another backup with Blake Jarwin getting cut. Here, the Cowboys take a chance on Jalen Wydermyer.
The Texas A&M Aggie looked like a future star going into his junior season, and he had continued success this past season. He struggled a bit with drop issues but is still regarded as one of the best pass-catching prospects in the country.
Overall, the hometown talent has a lot of potential in the passing game and is a decent blocker as well. He can definitely improve in his explosiveness, overall athleticism, and blocking, but he would fit very well in tight end sets as he can be a very solid vertical target.
Other notable prospects available: WR Jalen Nailor, WR Reggie Roberson Jr., WR Tyquan Thornton
Round 5, Pick 178: WR Jalen Nailor
With almost every position addressed in this draft, America’s Team selects a speedy WR option in Jalen Nailor. Nailor enjoyed a solid junior season at Michigan State, piling up almost 700 yards in nine games this past season.
The Michigan State Spartan is a great, late-round option in this deep receiver class and can do major damage in the slot. He is a big-play target, averaging about 18 yards per reception last season. He has good hands, great run-after-catch ability, and very good ball skills.
Nailor played mostly outside during his career in East Lansing but should be more than comfortable with playing in the slot. Since the team addressed the outside receiver spot in round two with Pickens, adding a player who can play both outside or in the slot seems viable here.
Other notable prospects available: WR Reggie Roberson Jr., G Cade Mays, WR Justyn Ross
