3. player. 60. Pick Analysis. DE. Minnesota Vikings. DanielleHunter. Scouting Report

The Minnesota Vikings have been receiving calls and seem to have some interest in moving star pass rusher Danielle Hunter. Hunter is a two-time pro bowler who was enjoying a very nice first half of the season before a torn pectoral ended his year. In seven games, he had six sacks, 22 hurries, and 22 tackles. The former third-round pick has enjoyed much success in the NFL, logging a total of 60.5 sacks in 85 games.

The main reason the Vikings are open to moving Hunter is because of his large cap hit this upcoming season. He is expected to have $26.1 million against the cap. The Cowboys should be giving the Vikings a call about the LSU product. Hunter is only 27 years old and is one of the best defensive ends in the game. As far as the cap hit, restructuring Hunter’s contract would bring his cap hit down to $3.3 million. While this does push money further into the future, there is no worry about his production declining any time soon.

As far as trade compensation goes, a second-round pick is his expected trade value. That sounds like really good value for a guy with his abilities. This would fill a hole and arguably be an upgrade over Randy Gregory, and give DeMarcus Lawrence his best running mate since Robert Quinn.
