George Karlaftis is a player currently falling down draft boards, and it’s not due to a lack of talent. Other players, including one also on this list, have simply increased their stock more throughout the NFL Combine and their Pro Days.
Karlaftis enjoyed a successful career at Purdue and declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season. Another reason why the first-round hopeful’s stock is falling is due to the fact that his stats aren’t necessarily eye-popping. In the 2021 season, he recorded five sacks, 35 hurries, 28 stops, and two forced fumbles for the Boilermakers. As I said, the numbers aren’t fantastic, but the tape shows so much more.
The Draft Network just did a mock draft that had the #Bears taking Purdue EDGE George Karlaftis in Round 2.

I’d be stunned if he falls out of the first round, but I’m sprinting to the podium to take Karlaftis if he’s there. pic.twitter.com/6gVlD2h3Bw
It’s becoming more and more likely that the Boilermaker will be on the board when Dallas picks at 24th overall. Will McClay should absolutely consider taking this defender in the first round. Dan Quinn can shape him into an NFL threat.
