There has been a lot of offseason chaos for the Dallas Cowboys. Cut rumors, trades, people saying they are staying but actually leaving (looking at you, Randy Gregory), and much more. Guard Connor Williams leaving the Cowboys in free agency happens to be one unsurprising thing that happened this offseason. Given his 2021 struggles with the team and the front office’s need to sign other players, Williams’ Cowboys exit was pretty much inevitable.

On Tuesday morning, several insiders reported that Williams would be signing with the Miami Dolphins to a two-year, $14 million deal with $7.5 million fully guaranteed. Williams is now the second Cowboy to head to Miami, joining wide receiver Cedrick Wilson.

Dallas seems to have known this was coming. The front office planned to move forward with a low-cost veteran or early draft pick to help the offensive line. Williams was a decent guard, but his league-leading penalties just couldn’t be overlooked. In fact, those penalties got him benched mid-year. He did return for a few games without penalties, but by the end of the season, he was back to his old ways.

Williams’ mistakes put the Dallas offense in trouble several times in key moments. He will surely have a successful future in the league, he just has some work to do. That work will now be with the Dolphins.

Cowboys fans mock Miami after reports that Connor Williams was signing with the Dolphins for a two-year, $14 million deal

Cowboys fans who know Williams penalty-prone ways all too well were quick to head to Twitter to troll Miami fans and let them know they should be prepared for what they are truly getting. Here are some great responses:

This fan wanted to relive Williams ruining a big pass play one last time. He even included a classic Jerry Jones meme.

This fan used good ole sarcasm to express his opinion. He used a classic line from Schitt’s Creek…“best wishes, warmest regards.”

After one Miami fan tried to share his excitement, a Cowboys fan was there to swiftly ruin his day. The laughing emoji really seals the deal.

This fan pointed out that Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa isn’t getting any help from Williams. A quarterback who is already struggling certainly doesn’t need constant penalties holding him back.

This tweeter literally put the evidence out there. He took a screenshot proving just how bad Williams’ penalty situation was.

This fan didn’t hold back. He deemed the guard “one of the most frustrating players” he’s ever watched.

As this person mentioned, there is a good chance that Williams just needs a change of scenery or a different coach to help him clean up his play. He is certainly a good guard. He just needs better conditioning and discipline. Best of luck to Williams in Miami!
