8 cheap NFL free agents that make sense for the Cowboys in 2022
1. Jonathan Bullard, Atlanta Falcons, Defensive End
Career Stats: 113 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 5 passes defended, 1 forced fumble
We know how much Dallas values defensive linemen who are able to play multiple positions. They did it last season with the signing of Brent Urban and it was a move that paid off before his season-ending injury. The Cowboys could still bring Urban back, but if they are looking outside the team then Bullard could be their man.
The Falcon is a player that would give Quinn’s defensive scheme the defensive position flexibility that guys like Parsons and Urban do. His size gives him the ability to shift to an interior defensive lineman where he can use his deceptive speed off the snap to create more pressure on the interior of the offensive line. That flexibility would allow the Cowboys to disguise the formations and blitz packages to keep teams off-balance.
Jerry Jones and the front office are known for their surprising, blockbuster, and interesting decisions. It will be interesting to see how the next few days unfold and who ends up on the 2022 roster.
