Now it’s time to take a look at four cheap defensive free agents for the Cowboys

4. Tim Settle, Washington Commanders, Defensive Tackle

Career Stats: 54 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7 sacks

Dallas needs upgrades in the middle of their defensive line when it comes to the running game. Settle could give the team a boost in that department. During his time in Washington, Settle was used heavily on running downs and was effective in that role. He used his power to hold up blockers for linebackers and also shed offensive linemen and make plays of his own.

The DT may not get a lot of looks early in free agency from teams thanks to his perceived role as a two-down defensive tackle, but that’s exactly what the Cowboys are in need of at the moment. Other teams overlooking the defender could allow the Cowboys to get in with Settle earlier in free agency in order to secure his talents for the 2022 season.
