6. Dak Prescott, QB – No. 81

2021 Snaps: 1,113 | 2021 PFF Grade: 81.6

Is Dak Prescott better than a lot of the quarterbacks in the league? Sure. But was he a top quarterback in the league this year? Arguably not. He did technically have a franchise record-breaking year, but he also was accused of being in a slump several times throughout the latter half of the season.

In the first seven weeks of the season, Prescott was even at the top of the odds for league MVP. After a calf injury, he never seemed to get back to where he was. The only time he threw for more yards (4,449 this year) was in 2019 when he threw for 4,902 yards. He also ended the year with a 104.2 rating and his highest-ever completion percentage with 68.8%. While some Cowboys fans are over Prescott, they have to realize that while he may not be a top-five quarterback, he is certainly better than at least 20 of the league’s QBs.

Unsurprisingly, quarterbacks ranked above Prescott were Tom Brady (9), Josh Allen (14), Aaron Rodgers (18), Justin Herbert (25), Kirk Cousins (41), Matthew Stafford (43), Ryan Tannehill (45), and Patrick Mahomes (69) — though Mahomes’ spot being this low is flat-out bizarre. No QBs were ranked below Prescott.

7. Connor Williams, G – No. 95

2021 Snaps: 963 | 2021 PFF Grade: 81.1

This was the most puzzling choice. The guy who led the league in holding penalties? The guy who got benched in the middle of the season? There are plenty of other players on both the offense and defense who likely deserve to be on this list over Williams. But PFF is entitled to their opinions!

PFF says that even though people focus on Williams’ high-penalty rate, he is actually a high-performing guard. But you can’t exactly not focus on the penalties when they hurt your team. However, it is fair to say that the Cowboys did learn that he was a better player than Connor McGovern. In his 15 games started, Williams allowed 15 pressures.

Williams is one of many Cowboys free agents next year and will likely not play in Dallas next year. He definitely has a promising future as a guard but needs to clean up the penalties.
