2. Guard

Cowboys Free Agents – Connor Williams

Possible Offensive Snaps Lost – 949

Possible Special Teams Snaps Lost – 36

This has been a long time coming, and the Cowboys have already made moves to try and unseat Williams from the starting position he’s held the last few years at left guard. Unfortunately, Connor McGovern failed to impress after the benching of Williams last season.

The Cowboys also have rookie Matt Farniok, but he was taken with their last pick in the draft, and from his low snap count, they clearly didn’t feel comfortable putting him out there to protect their star quarterback. The draft is likely the best way to find a new guard.

That’s a good thing for the Cowboys as this year brings a good amount of great offensive line prospects. Dallas actually has the opportunity to find a guard to come in and start or battle for the start at left guard in the first three rounds of this draft. If they really wanted to, they could try to move up for more of a guarantee. But, I have a feeling they would rather move down than up for a player.
