3. Jalen Pitre, Safety, Baylor

Safety is a position that the Cowboys usually do not invest in. But, Pitre could be the exception. The Baylor safety went to the Senior Bowl with questions about his coverage ability. After his great week of play, that seems to no longer be an issue.

Quality safety play is important in the Cowboys’ defensive scheme, as we saw with the emergence of Jayron Kearse in his first year in Dallas. But, with Kearse headed to free agency and likely looking for a big payday, the Cowboys may need to find a new safety that can fill his role.

Pitre is a physical player who loves to tackle and play around the line of scrimmage. He could be the type of player that Dallas is interested in. But, they will more than likely have to take him in the second round.

The Cowboys’ second-round pick is the 56th overall selection. If Pitre is still on the board, he would be a great choice for Dallas.
