What the Cowboys need: Win + 49ers loss to clinch playoff berth

Likeliness to occur: 2/10

This one doesn’t seem all that possible to break the Cowboys’ way. The 49ers seem to have found a bit of a groove and have themselves positioned as the No. 6 seed in the NFC at this moment. After starting out 2-4, the 49ers have rattled off a 5-2 stretch to get back into the thick of things.

The Falcons are hanging on to playoff aspirations by a thread as they sit “in the hunt.” But, in reality, they are on the brink of elimination. The 49ers are running the ball well, Jimmy Garoppolo has been floating around the 300-yard mark in passing as of late, and former Iowa Hawkeye tight end George Kittle has back-to-back weeks of 181 and 151 receiving yards.

Not only do the 49ers likely handle the Falcons here, but they are also a team to keep an eye on hitting their stride at the right time. I give this a 2/10 likeliness of happening as it is still the NFL, and anything can happen. I just think this outcome is extremely unlikely.
