2.  Dallas’ offensive line vs. Tampa Bays’ defensive line

This matchup might get overlooked because of the talented stars on both sides of the ball. However, the Cowboys’ offensive line likely has their hands full for this Week 1 matchup. Last season, the Buccaneers’ defensive line and the Cowboys’ offensive line were on opposite sides of the totem pole.

Tampa Bay’s line finished as one of the best in the league in 2020. For starters, they ranked first in rush yards allowed per game (82.7), first in opponent’s rushing first downs per game (5.2), and fifth in team pressure (37.1 percent). Additionally, PFF ranks this unit as the third-best coming into the season.

On the other side, the Cowboys’ offensive line was considered one of the worst in the league. They ranked as the 6th worst unit and struggled all season long. They couldn’t protect their quarterbacks at all with a pass block win rate of 51 percent, which ranked tied for 26th in 2020.

Furthermore, they weren’t that solid on the ground either. This unit could not open up many running lanes for their former All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott. They finished with a run block win rate of 70 percent which was the middle of the pack.

However, Dallas’ offensive line could be very different than it was from a season ago. This team returns three key players to their o-line including guard Zack Martin, tackle Tyron Smith, and tackle La’el Collins. Although Collins is already dealing with “neck stingers” and might miss Week 1, Martin and Smith look to be ready to lead this group once again.

Facing likely a top-five defense to start the season, the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line probably needs to step up big time. This matchup will be one to keep an eye on all game long.
