Final Roster Projection

This, of course, leads me to my first projection of what the final roster will look like on September 1, 2021. This could be one of the most difficult years to accurately predict what will happen but here would be my choices if I had to make said moves today.

Quarterbacks (2) – Prescott, Garrett Gilbert. I would hope to get Gilbert onto the practice squad but he might be too good for that and not good enough for the roster. Ultimately QB2 needs to be a cut from another team or a street-free agent.

Running backs (3) – Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Rico Dowdle

Receivers (6) – Cooper, Michael Gallup, Lamb, Cedrick Wilson, Noah Brown, Malik Turner. It may be a gamble to not keep Fehoko but right now, Turner deserves one of the last spots on this team.

Tight ends (4) – Blake Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, McKeon, Jeremy Sprinkle. As I said before, McKeon will be on the roster for one day then go to IR.

Offensive line (9) – Tyron Smith, Williams, Biadasz, Zack Martin, La’el Collins, Connor McGovern, Ty Nsekhe, Brandon Knight, Terence Steele. Nsekhe and Steele may be on the roster on 9/1 and gone before the opener depending on other team’s moves.

Defensive line (10) – DeMarcus Lawrence, Gallimore, Odighizuwa, Randy Gregory, Armstrong, Tarell Basham, Brent Urban, Quinton Bohanna, Carlos Watkins, Justin Hamilton. Gallimore will join McKeon on the IR designated to return list, while it’s looking increasingly likely that Trysten Hill will start the season on the PUP list meaning he will be out for at least six weeks. Also, RIP Bradlee Anae hype train.

Linebackers (6) – Vander Esch, Parsons, Neal, Smith, Jabril Cox, Azur Kamara

Cornerbacks (6) – Diggs, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Kelvin Joseph, Nahshon Wright, Maurice Canady

Safeties (4) – Donovan Wilson, Damontae Kazee, Hooker, Israel Mukuamu

Special Teams (3) – Jake McQuaide, Hunter Niswander, Greg Zuerlein

Of note, fullback Sewo Olonilua, linebacker Anthony Hines and cornerback Reggie Robinson were placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday. Cornerback Kyron Brown and wide receiver Brennan Eagles were cut dropping the roster size down to the required 85.
