2. All Hail Drew Pearson

When I think about former wide receiver Drew Pearson, two thoughts immediately dial-up. I see the play. You know, that play.

Quarterback Roger Staubach steps back. He heaves his throwing arm back and launches the football towards the sky. Somehow, someway, Pearson eludes the Minnesota Vikings defenders. He catches the ball and the birth of the “Hail Mary” is installed in football minds forever.

The second thought? Sadly, it’s a video clip of Pearson emotionally reacting as he learned he would not enter the Hall of Fame class. The disappointment was palpable and as Cowboys fans, you empathized with the tragedy.

But cry no more, Mr. Pearson. The true “88” will live forever in Canton, Ohio. Now, we all know Pearson can rally a crowd, as we all witnessed when he announced the NFL second-round draft selection of Chidobe Awuzie in Philadelphia. His speech is worth tuning in for.
