2. Select at least six defensive players

The Cowboys arguably had the worst defense last season. They ranked bottom five in many defensive categories including points allowed per game (29.6), rush yards allowed per game (158.8) and rush yards allowed per attempt (5.0).

As a result, it is likely no surprise that Dallas needs all the help they can get on defense. With 10 total picks in the draft, they should attempt to bolster that side of the ball every opportunity they can get.

Furthermore, the Cowboys’ main priority in the draft should be establishing the secondary and boosting their defensive line. More importantly, the Cowboys likely need to target lots of defensive tackles (DT) in the draft.

If the Cowboys can select 2-3 players in the secondary, 2-3 players on the defensive line and another player to add to their linebacker core, this would be Dallas’ best case. They would then be on track to improve that horrendous defense for the future.
