123. . Cornerback. Dallas Cowboys. Greg Newsome. 44. player

While the Dallas Cowboys missed on the top three corners, they have to be ecstatic in nabbing the top of what is considered the second-tier corners. Trevon Diggs lasted until the 51st pick last year in a weaker cornerback class so Newsome falling to 44 isn’t that far-fetched.

I actually have Newsome graded fairly close to where I had Diggs last year so this would be a great get for the boys.

Newsome is a feisty six-foot-one 190pound cornerback that has almost every trait you would want in a cornerback. One big knock on Newsome is his game speed. For those Patrick Surtain hopefuls out there, I have concerns about Surtain’s speed also so I think these two have more in common than I initially observed.

I know that the symmetry Surtain would give the team having bookend Alabama corners is appealing but Newsome can become a very good cornerback.

I will concede that injury concerns have to be a factor as he has missed some time as Newsome does have a slighter build than prototypical standards but his play on the field makes this prospect a solid consolation prize.

Whether the team selects a corner in the first or takes their chances again in the second, the team still has to go out and find an established veteran to help the secondary get through any growing pains these rookie corners will encounter

Newsome gives you a top 50 prospect while still allowing you to take one of the top-rated players in the entire draft.
