3 defensive moves the Cowboys still need to make this offseason
1. Sign another safety
The Cowboys arguably need a lot of help in the secondary, especially at the safety position. Although Dallas signed safety Keanu Neal, they are expected to move him to weak-side linebacker, per NFL.com.
This leaves the Cowboys in a weird position because they still remain thin with their safeties. With Xavier Woods being an unrestricted free agent and likely set to depart, Dallas will need to replace him. Even though many free-agent safeties are off the board, there are still plenty of names that the Cowboys could go after.
Two key players that have been discussed are safeties Malik Hooker and Damontae Kazee. Both are expected to visit with the team this upcoming week, per cowboyswire.usatoday.com. Pairing one of these safeties with breakout star Donovan Wilson would improve that secondary instantly.
Last season, Wilson was arguably seen all over the field. He had three forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions to go along with 71 tackles. Lining up Wilson with Hooker or Kazee would possibly be a huge improvement for that secondary.
