Round 2, Pick 12: Trevon Moehrig

• Safety, TCU
• Height/Weight: 6-2, 210 lbs.

First impressions?

I see safety Trevon Moehrig as a possible first-round talent. But as I stated last week, the possibility of safeties falling out of the sky, especially the first round, is something to watch. And this is a good thing for the Cowboys.

But will the owner and the general manager, Jerry Jones, finally pull the trigger on a safety? If he is staring right at Moehrig on the board, will he draft the safety and begin the great fix on the terrible defense?

I doubt it. Last week, I entertained Cowboys Nation by selecting safety Jevon Holland in the second round. I’d love to get scratch that safety itch, but I just don’t think this is on the Dallas radar.

A second-round steal?

Moehrig is a Texas product. Just outside of San Antonio, he played cornerback in high school and also ran track. In 2020, he earned the First-team All-Big 12 and the Jim Thorpe Award. During his three seasons with TCU, he racked in 124 tackles, 21 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and seven interceptions.
