4. K.J. Wright, Linebacker
This 32-year old veteran linebacker is projected to hit free agency this offseason. Wright has been a steady presence for the Seattle Seahawks defense throughout his career.
Wright has been incredibly durable during his career and has managed to play at least fifteen games in six of his past seven seasons. This year the dependable defender has managed to accrue 83 total tackles and two sacks while playing all fifteen games for the Seahawks thus far.
The Cowboys defense is in dire need of help this offseason. The team is currently ranked towards the bottom of the league in both turnovers and points per game allowed. The organization has also struggled to stay healthy at the linebacker position for quite some time.
The team’s veteran linebacker Sean Lee may be playing his last season in the NFL. Lee, unlike Wright, has been plagued with injuries for much of his career and has missed considerable playing time as a result. Unfortunately for fans of America’s Team, it appears his successor Leighton Vander Esch may be suffering from the same predicament early in his career.
It is often said that the most important ability in football is availability. Unfortunately, that bodes poorly for Dallas’s linebacker core over the past decade. The organization might also like to bring Wright in to fill the leadership role that Sean Lee has been occupying for the better part of the last decade.
The Seattle Seahawks might re-sign Wright. However, if they decide to move on from him it might be wise for the Dallas Cowboys to keep an eye on the dependable veteran who could shore up their defense and provide a veteran presence. Wright might be able to be brought in on a relatively cheap deal given his age as well.
