DB – Jourdan Lewis

Defensive back Jourdan Lewis is a player that I believe will get an opportunity elsewhere and shine. I do not expect him to become someone’s starting outside corner as his height is an issue when defending larger wideouts (except New Orleans’ Michael Thomas) but this feisty player could command decent money for a team looking to upgrade their slot corner.

I think he has been even better as of late playing safety in certain situations for this team. I would attempt to try and bring back Lewis as I don’t believe he has gotten a fair shake. The previous coaching staff felt he didn’t fit into their large corner ideology while this current defensive staff has enough issues just finding healthy bodies to play.

Lewis is a feisty player that I rarely see out of position. Sure he gets beat sometimes but it isn’t as regularly as some of the other corners on the roster. He is also used to playing behind people so his ego shouldn’t get in the way of whoever the team brings in to replace what I believe will be a 2017 draft class exodus.

Sure Lewis is less than ideal when you talk about his size but I think his opportunities have been limited for unknown reasons. It could also be a situation where the team is sparingly playing him so that they can re-sign him to a friendlier deal.

Whatever the talk, I would not mind having Jourdan Lewis playing for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. Some people might see it differently but having a seasoned cornerback at your disposal for not a lot of money feels like a sound business move.
