2021 NFL Draft: 5 players Cowboys should keep a close eye on
By Connor Green
1. Jaylen Twyman, DL, Pittsburgh
The Dallas Cowboys are currently giving up a league-high 167.8 rushing yards per game. In the teams’ last matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, the Cowboys gave up a staggering 294 rushing yards. The defense lacks a presence upfront and constantly gets beat in the trenches.
The organization may end up selecting defensive lineman Kwity Payne out of Michigan in the first round. However, whether or not the team decides to address this concern in the first round they should definitely keep their eye on Pittsburgh defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman.
The 290-pound lineman had an absolutely monstrous season last year for the Panthers. The young defender finished the year with an eye-popping 10.5 sacks, which was the second-highest total in the entire ACC, and 12 tackles for a loss.
Unfortunately for fans of America’s Team Twyman, like many other notable college football players, decided to opt-out of this season due to complications involving COVID-19. This means that Cowboys fans will likely have to wait for the NFL combine to see more of the promising young lineman.
The Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of help stopping the run and putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Twyman is a very good fit for the team and he would instantly address one of the teams’ most pressing concerns. The organization should start paying attention to all of these players and more if it wants to have a good draft class instead of just a good draft pick.
