CeeDee Lamb, WR

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has played very well in the first six weeks of the season. As a 17th overall draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, he is living up to the hype.

Despite seeing 15 fewer targets than teammate Amari Cooper, Lamb has only six fewer receiving yards. He ranks second on the team with 497 receiving yards. That also places him seventh in the league for receiving yards.

He has shown his ability to run routes like a veteran and find holes in zone defenses. The rookie has at least five receptions in every game so far and eclipsed 10+ targets twice this season.

Both quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Dak Prescott acknowledge how well he plays, and he is reaping the rewards. Will he keep up this pace?

With Dalton moving forward as the starting quarterback, Lamb’s production will take a hit. That’s not to say Lamb is playing worse; it’s that Dalton is not as good a quarterback as Dak.

Luckily for the wideout, he has stats to back up his play on the field. Had it not been for that, I’m sure you would find some people that will try to downplay his skill.

So far, Lamb is on pace to finish the season with 96 catches for 1,325 yards and five touchdowns. That would have him placed fourth in the NFL for receiving yards last season.

The pace he is on may be surprising to many people. That is except for those that watched him play with the Oklahoma Sooners. They watched him tear up the NCAA and now the NFL.

Eye-popping production is ordinary for Lamb. After all, he had 1,000+ receiving yards and 10+ touchdowns in back-to-back seasons with the Sooners.

There is a very good possibility that the first-round pick will eclipse 1,000 receiving yards with the Cowboys this season. That is unless something tragic happens to him. Considering the season for the team thus far, I’m going to leave it at that.
