4 reasons the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Seattle Seahawks
#2. Turnovers Anyone?
Turnovers can play a huge role in a team’s success or failure. It seems like for Dallas, it is almost always against them. They had three total turnovers, with all of them being by quarterback Dak Prescott.
The first turnover was an interception late in the second quarter. While marching down the field to try and get some points, Dak was pressured and tried to force the ball to wideout Amari Cooper.
The ball was thrown a bit behind, but it was also a great read by cornerback Shaquill Griffen. This turnover gave the Seahawks great field position (Dallas’ 34-yard line) which was followed by a touchdown for Seattle.
The second turnover was a fumble by Dak where he was hit as he tried to throw the ball. This caused the ball to fall right into the hands of defensive lineman, Benson Mayowa.
This was on the very first play of the second half. Instead of the Cowboys scoring points to make the game closer, the Seahawks got the ball at Dallas’ five-yard line. Within two offensive plays for Seattle, they scored a touchdown.
The final turnover by Dallas was on their last possession of the game. In a desperate attempt to score a touchdown, Dak escapes a sack and throws a Hail Mary-like pass into the endzone. It was too low of a pass and was picked off by Seahawks defensive back Ryan Neal.
All three turnovers by the Cowboys were a result of Dak having a defensive lineman in his face. Two of them resulted in touchdowns for the opponent, and the last one sealed the loss.
Had Dallas not suffered terrible injuries at offensive tackle, maybe the turnovers could have been prevented. If there weren’t so many injuries on the defensive side, maybe they could have given up field goals instead of touchdowns.
While the turnovers and injuries surely had a huge role in the loss, there is still more to why they lost. What is it?
