3 notes to digest before the Dallas Cowboys host Browns
3. Trevon Diggs is a first-rounder
I love to be right. I held Trevon Diggs in high regard before the 2020 NFL Draft. I even rated him with a first-round grade. So, when the Cowboys grabbed him with a second-round pick, I was elated.
Diggs has proven himself right thus far, and when it is all said and done this year, the Dallas Cowboys will look like they robbed the NFL Draft factory by taking Diggs in the second round. Sure, he has made rookie mistakes, but he sure has provided highlight reels that we will see on repeat all year long.
I’m still wondering if he played that well against Seattle while banged up, what could he have done in full health? This guy is a fighter. He’s missing his starter half in Chidobe Awuzie. The secondary planted so many unfamiliar jerseys numbers I thought the game against Seattle was a preseason workout.
While the secondary committed several costly penalties in Seattle, Diggs has proven to be a bright light in conditions begging him to fail. There’s no question the secondary needs help. (Hello, Earl Thomas, are you around?) But we knew depth was an issue going into 2020.
Diggs is making the most of it, and it’s super exciting to see a star rising this early. Diggs has 18 tackles, one forced fumble, and two pass deflections in three games so far.
Prediction time! The Cleveland Browns don’t stand a chance. The Dallas Cowboys will unleash their offensive firepower. Cowboys 34, Browns 20.
