Dallas Cowboys: 5 bold predictions for the 2020 season
#3. A less-heralded guy will be a key contributor
While you typically don’t think of second-round draft selections as “less-heralded”, Cowboys second-rounder Trevon Diggs still hasn’t been talked about enough for my liking.
Yea, I’ve seen the headlines and the small chatter coming out of the Cowboys camp, but if the Seahawks, Steelers, or Packers had drafted this guy and he was better than his draft position indicated, he would have a shampoo commercial by now.
You then have someone on the opposite end of the spectrum. Last year’s second-round pick, Trysten Hill, has largely been a disappointment, based on all indications.
My belief here is that it is still early there though. Yea, you wanted a higher draft pick to show you something early, but it’s still too early with him even to make a definitive call one way or another. Hill is in this group of potentials as well.
Lastly of note, a seventh-round pick from this past draft in Bradlee Anae sticks with me for some reason. Although not for a stretch over years, his production last year in college cannot be ignored as sometimes, when it clicks, it clicks.
He has the physical tools and the tape that says he can go get the quarterback. That’s what puts him in this group.
What group is that? This is the group of perhaps five or so players, including defensive lineman Neville Gallimore and center Tyler Biadasz. One, if not more than one of them, will turn out to be a key contributor for the Boys this season.
